New Steiger tractors for 2019 feature suited-for-Canada tweaks

Steiger wants to hit the ground running, even on narrow tracks.

RealAgriculture’s Kelvin Heppner was in Boone, Iowa, recently for the Farm Progress Show. While he was there he got a chance to talk to Mitch Kaiser, Case IH Steiger marketing manager.

He says there is quite a bit new this year, “Especially for the Canadian market. We came with new track options, Soucy tracks, made in Canada…and also a Camso track that’s a high speed track with a whole new undercarriage.” (You can find more information on the Camso track here).

The Steiger Rowtrac models, 420, 470, and 500, will all be able to cruise down the road at 25 mph with the new Soucy and Camso track options. This will make sure you spend most of your time in the field and not on the road, Kaiser says.

With another nod to Western Canada, with bigger fields and bigger air seeders, there is a new option that will transfer power automatically to where it is needed the most. In the words of Kaiser, “We come with a smart torque pump that will actually, if you’re not using the hydraulic flow in a 580 or a 620 with a big air seeder, it will transfer that horsepower not used back to the drive train electronically and tell the drive train ‘hey I can use 11 per cent more horse power that I didn’t have before.'” (see video below)
