If you’re one of the farmers who submitted an application for Growing Forward 2 funding and were turned down, you’re not alone. Whenever a new or changed funding model rolls out, there’s always a learning curve. But does a first rejection mean you should abandon the application? Not necessarily.
As Margaret May, regional program lead with the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association, explains in this video filmed at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, there are real, live people available to walk you through the application process. No, they can’t do the dirty work for you, as you’re the person who knows your business best, but May says that great projects just may need a bit of tweaking in order to meet all the criteria and get approved.
The OSCIA website is a great starting place to find information, resources, workshop dates and more, says May, so go there first (http://www.ontariosoilcrop.org/) then get in touch with your local program lead and make sure your dandy of a project gets funded!
Not sure if your project falls under the GF2 funding? This list may help you make that call.
